Plusses:
- 4G compatible with our network provider
- A big 5.5" inch (14 cm) screen for easy website browsing
- A brand known for meeting Google's Android specs, which comes with a host of apps
Everything that can be expected from a modern Android-based smartphone is present and supported well. The bigger screen reduces the need for downloading apps as the mobile versions of websites are well-readible and even the desktop versions of websites can be accesses perfectly.
However, there's one major flaw in this otherwise killing product: the glass of the screen easily breaks. The first time, after an unlucky drop. The second time after a small drop of only 30 cm. And that brings us to a second, related issue: there is no true global support. LG has reduced it's support centers, and there are hardly repairshops to be found for LG in The Netherlands. This is likely to be the case in many other countries. So, ordering a new one seemed to be easier, though expensive.
Trying to prevent a repeat of the drop incident is also not made easy by LG: regular shops for smartphone covers, don't support the size of this bigger LG.
Minuses:
- The glass screen easily breaks.
- Local support LG very limited
- Critical accessories as screen protector hardly available
Conclusion: a great professional device that only survives everyday use when properly protected. LG would do a better job if it uses gorilla glass, or includes a protective case in the box.
